Monsieur Inkey, 1997-2008

Tonight at 6:30 p.m. PST we lost our beloved friend, Monsieur Inkey. Just moments before his death I held him in my arms and took him outside and showed him the ocean and an orange tree; I heard him purr and saw him smile. I held him in my lap and he crawled down and he lied down and, with no warning, he took his last breaths.

We were so lucky to have Inkey for so long. He was such a special cat---like none other. He will be sorely missed and there will forever be an emptiness that can never be filled. We love you Inkey and we always will.

I'm so sorry to hear about your beloved cat...it sounds like he was a very sweet companion.

It's good to see you back in the blogsphere, although I'm sorry it's under unfortunate circumstances.

Oh that is so sad. At least you were able to share a wonderful last moment together. Sorry to hear about Mr Inkey.

So sorry that such sad news bought you back to blogosphere. (You came up in my reader.)

I loved the M. Inkey reports, being such a cat lover myself. Your comment about what happens after he eats the christmas decorations had me smiling for days!

I really feel for you Belle. Losing a beloved pet is losing a member of your family. Your heart aches just as much.

Big hugs - X S

oh Inky was the first cat that was not my own that i could communicate with. i fell a bit in love with inky, even though he got mad at me for jiggling my leg... he let me know who was boss<, and i understand that that was the only way for him to communicate with me... he also played kind of baseball with me and i will never forget him EVER.... i feel your pain... and i send lots of love,

Belette, I am so sorry. Monsieur Inkey was the prettiest cat, and I know how you loved him. I have lost three cats and it is so painful. I have missed your blog so much. I hope you are back on for good. Take comfort in the fact that your kitty was well loved.

I'm sorry for your loss. I went through the same sadness earlier this year with my beloved kitty - Kramer. It is important to remember that M.Inkey had a great life with you and your husband. Not many animals have such a loving home. He was a special friend to you and you were a special friend to him.

My blogger friend TechBee lost her beloved cat last year. She wrote this in her lyrical article on the Internet "Plus belle, ma vie en ligne" published in Le Monde 2 last year:

"...I lost a very dear friend whose death it was pointless to mourn IRL because she was a cat. Like him, dealing with such acute grief, I sought shelter on the Internet. The next day, 13 strangers' messages were waiting for me, palpable in their kindness and compassion. Tom confessed to having taken time off from work to mourn for his dog. From Korea, a Buddhist veterinarian confided that a cat he had as a child had decided his vocation, and he assured me that his religion promised a "good reincarnation" for cats. On the Flickr photo site, Julian guided me, without asking any questions, to the Rainbow Bridge group, where photos of beloved, departed animals are displayed. Lucie is still there, in the form of a few pixels that are much more real than her ashes. She has had 3,000 visitors."

You have my sincerest sympathy. I lost my dog Virgil in my divorce three and a half years ago and I still have a giant picture of him as my computer screen background.

I'm sorry for your loss. :-(

You were one beatiful soul. Rest in peace, Inks.

I missed you and thought I'd never see any of your postings again when I read Wendy's blog about your blog being shut. I was heartbroken. Thanks for posting again, and please do continue with your lovely writings.

XOXOXOX

I am so sorry for your loss. I have a kitty that I love very much. When I contemplate the inevitable day that I will lose him, I hope it will be just as Inkey left you. Being held by his loving mama. What a wonderful life you gave him - such a loved and lucky kitty.

I'll miss reading about him! I recall when my ex won full custody of our Birman cat Sasha. She was like a daughter to me. I had no visiting rights.

Hi, I'm here via the Friday Ark's In Memoriam section. Please accept my deepest sympathies on the loss of your beloved M. Inkey. He was obviously a dearly loved cat. I hope it brings you some consolation to have been with him at the end and that he went peacefully in your arms. It seems like our kittes' time with us is too short, yet they manage to give us so much! Take care of yourself.

it was very hard to read this because i am too familiar with the pain. still grieving my own loss from the beginning of the year. and i will grieve for much longer...
inkey had an adoring family and a merciful end.
and you don't have to grieve alone.

Both you and accordingtobreal have gone terribly quiet. Am missing your blogs and hope that it is because you are having a good time and are just too busy to blog.

Was inspired to write a blog by your excellent one. Sadly, am just not a natural writer. Would love to hear some more from you though.

I'm so sorry to hear that news about your much loved cat. It's always so devatating -- we lost our old man puppy at the end of June and as you may have seen from my blog, we were totally destroyed over the whole thing. Sounds like he was not only hugely loved but also that he knew he was.
