400 blogs

No, that is not a typo, I did not mean to write about François Truffaut's famous New Wave French film. Rather, this is my 400th blog post. I can't believe I have managed it and yet there is another part of me that feels like this should be my 4000th post. I feel like I have been blogging for years and that is because I have. I started La Belette Rouge in October 2007 and here I am, still blogging, in July 2009.

This piece of internet real estate has been a home to me both when I felt at home and when I have felt homeless. It has been a constant for me in the midst of so much change. Whether I was in Lake Bluff, Austin, or here in Valencia I have had this blog and my adorable, smart, funny, insightful and gorgeous readers who always make me feel at home. I assure you if I didn't feel at home here I wouldn't be blogging in my pajamas.

I have so many times, in these last couple of difficult years, thought about quitting the blog and I did take a long break last summer----but I cannot imagine what my life would be like if I had. So many things would be so different. There'd be no Lily, no book in the works and I wouldn't have made so many wonderful new bloggy friends. I am so glad that I came back and that I made it to my 400th post. I feel sure I will make it to 500. When I think about doing another 400 I am not so sure I have it is me. But, blogging is done one post at a time.

In case you didn't know the traditional gift for the 400th post is to subscribe to the blog of the celebrant, to follow me here (see upper left hand side of my blog)and on Twitter. Consider yourself lucky, I told He-weasel that traditional gift for the 400th blog post are shoes, the 500th post is WendyB jewelry and the 1000th post is a trip to Paris. Please, whatever you do, don't disabuse him of my blogging anniversary gift giving schedule.

Also, I did want to use this post to thank Jennifer at Writing to Survive for making my blog her blog of the month. Please go over and visit her fantastic blog. I am a big fan of her gorgeous writing and I am very proud to receive this honour from her. Really, it is better than shoes.

I thank you all for being here, whether this is your first, fourth, fortieth, or four hundredth post. Your presence here means more to me than I can say, even if I had 4000 words to say it in.

Jewelry by Wendy B for the 500th blog post! Go for it my dear.

I am glad that you came back to your blog and that I discovered you, and a few other blogs through you. I find it interesting, the how words in the ether can make a home of sorts, but I too am grateful for that bit of constancy.

Happy 400th!! You don't look a day over 350.

Does He-weasel know that the gift for your 2000th blogaversary is to fly in all your blogging friends from the different corners of the world for a party?

Add me to the list of people who is grateful that you have kept going for all 400 posts, and very much hopes to read your 1000th post.

You've found a place where you can not only express yourself in comfort and gained a level of self awareness in the process - through your blogging adventures, you have given others insight and inspiration. Congratulations on your accomplishment.

Congratulations Miss LBR, what a HUGE milestone, for all of us who love to read you, more importantly, all of us who care about you. You. Yes, you. And of course, Miss Lily, we most definitely care about That furry little loveball, yeppers. (And He-weasel as well, although I can never recall the proper punctuation on his name.)

Best thing about this post? Yours truly was clueless about your Tweeting presence. Seriously. It isn't easy being this thick.

Hugs and happy weekend wishes to you!

Congrats! You can wear those shoes with pride. btw, thought you really were in Vancouver the other day 'cause I saw a very cute little Westie dressed in a charming pink coat up in the distance -- alas, when I got closer I could see it was actually a rather garishly-ornamented pink and not up to Lily's standards at all!

Congratulations on your First 400. That's no mean feat, especially since your blog posts are all quite, quite long. I will definitely go visit your friend Jennifer as her blog title is almost exactly the same as my ID subtitle (Writing to stay alive or staling alive to write?). Another bloggy soulmate? Perhaps.
Belette, you are my morning cup of coffee. Don't ever stop writing -- even if it is just only grocery lists.

Congratulations! And may Paris follow quickly. You deserve that gift.

400 blog posts! Congratulations! I've read that most blogs are abandoned within two months. It takes a real commitment to keep it up, but there is so much to get out of blogging, too.

I'm looking forward to the 500th and the 1000th posts.

Thank you for the shout-out, too. I really need to go back to reviewing my blogs of the month, which I used to do before cutting back on my blogging time. Hmm. Maybe I'll do a "catch-up" post so that I can list the ways that I love your writing ...

Whooo hooo! 400th! Party like it is 1999!

Glad to be here with you to celebrate! You are a divine creature with an enigmatic yet refreshing style that keeps her readers constantly infatuated.

That, and you rock! Kisses!!!

How wonderful...congratulations on the 400th, and I do really agree with every word.
My dear LBR, how creative of you, this time I am referring to the list of gifts you have selected...
I think someone once blogged about selecting the proper present (maybe it was you) and how few people know how to do it. I think it is difficult and the solution is to hand the list over to the sweetsie to make it easy. (I just got an i-phone using the same approach)
I will check out your supporter, and say hi to her. I love your blog and you.

Congratulations!!! I love that the 500th post traditional gift is WB jewels. I'm going to try that one on Scott. (Eeek, just went to my dashboard to see how many posts I've posted and it's 497 - if this works, I could have some nice baubles very soon :-)) I know you have zillions more great posts in you and I can't wait to read them all.

Congrats from a fellow "bloggy", and here's to another 400... that's in Belette posts, so lets say another 3000 regular people posts. Oh, this isn't supposed to be a roast!? ;) :) :D

1) OK, I did it, you've nudged me to do what I've been meaning to do since forever... log on and FOLLOW you on Twitter.

2) Does WB sell her own line?

3) Congrats on your little photo of you taking a photo of you as a blog-o-the-month tribute over at Jennifer's place! (Do you get your own parking space?)

4)But, I'm sure you could say it in 5000 (20 days worth!) Roasting yet?
;) :) :D

Congratulations! One day I will read your blog from day one. But 400 posts! How often do I think, darn it, time to write another post. But, like you said, the few hours it takes to throw a post together can't compare to what blogging gives back, friendship, self understanding, the invaluable habit of constant creativity. And, oh, how grateful I am to have discovered your blog, and you!

Cheryl said...

Oh but Twitter...I have to admit I still haven't got the hang of texting yet. Twitter is even more daunting. One day, one day...

Congratulations from me too! I´m always anxious to read your posts. In some ways I can so well relate to your childhood history. Your conversations with Igor are interesting to read. You have a great skill placing your thoughts into words. A talent, a gift I honor and appreciate!

I reckon you deserve all those rewards, right now Belette.
I think my blog posts total at around 400, but that is including a LOT of abandoned 'drafts'

(just checked, 373 posts, only 8 drafts. not too shabby!)

WOW, marvellous and how fitting I had a La Belette Rouge moment today in my study support session. I was with Igor but obviously not Igor and getting answers to my questions, so probably not Igor, but it felt like it might be a session with Igor based on your revelations.

You are the best xxx

Happy 400th to you and your blog! I'm so glad that I found my way here in 2009, but wish it had been earlier.
Would you believe that I just left Jennifer's marvelous blog after having caught up on posts there, but I didn't see that she had honored you with Blog of the Month. gads, I'll go back there just to see it. :)

Congratulations Belette...400 posts!
I don't know how any of us do this...I really don't, but 400 posts is such an achievment. Yes you do deserve shoes!

I see that you put Paris even higher than the Wendy B Jewelry!! (Hope she takes it well!) I trust you can make Paris before your post 1000 and eat some of the macarons I saw on Twitter!

400 is definitely a milestone. Especially given that so many of your posts are really distillations of quite wrenching moments or topics.

So without taking anything away from your current accomplishment, best wishes for the next 100!
